Кто не хотел бы потерять вес, не прилагая к этому никаких усилий? Только представить себе – просыпаешься через месяц диеты и обнаруживаешь, что она реально сработала.

Ушло почти 12 килограммов, но все, что было сделано, это уменьшение рациона. И при этом никаких мук голода. Звучит слишком хорошо, чтобы быть правдой, не так ли? Как может так случиться, что существует такая эффективная диета, а не все об этом знают?

По словам Кевина Трюдо,автора книги Средство для похудения, которое от вас скрывают, и доктора Шери Л. Эммы, автора Руководства доктора Эммы по ХГЧ-диете(HСG diet - human chorionic gonadotropin), диета существует и ей нужно обязательно воспользоваться.

Итак, она зовется диета ХГЧ и существует уже около полувека, но с 1960-х годов она была погребена под завалами полемики, а теперь переживает второе рождение. Придется копать вглубь, чтобы разобраться, что в основах.

Что такое диета ХГЧ?

По данным официального сайта это программа безвозвратной потери веса, которая естественно стимулирует обмен веществ, приводит мышцы в тонус и помогает терять в среднем около 400 г в день. Здесь утверждается, что цель ХЧГ-диеты в том, чтобы человек стал по-настоящему здоровым, а не только похудевшим. Пока что по-прежнему хорошо звучит?

В целом эта система была разработана в 1950-х годах эндокринологом A. T. W. Simeons. Он утверждал, что после введения ХГЧ (хорионический гонадотропин человека) пациенты могли бы значительно уменьшить жировой объем без ежедневных физических упражнений.

В своей книге «Фунты и дюймы» Simeons рассказал о двух десятилетиях исследований идеи о том, что режим ХГЧ-лечения и ограничения питания может запрограммировать гипоталамус на борьбу с ожирением, уменьшая жировые залежи, а не мышечную ткань.

Исходная схема ХГЧ-диеты

На протяжении десятилетий с момента первоначальной разработки в программе диеты было много мелких изменений, но основа оригинального протокола, разработанного доктором Симеонсом была сохранена.

Изначально это гормональное воздействие посредством инъекций или капель под язык. И затем после третьей дозы ХГЧ ограничение потребления калорий примерно до 500 в день.

Можно употреблять в пищу высокобелковые продукты (постное мясо – телятина, куриная грудка, омары, крабы, креветки), свежие овощи (шпинат, помидоры, сельдерей, лук, красный редис, огурцы, спаржа, капуста).

Запрещаются категорически молочные продукты, углеводы (в том числе и высокоуглеводистые овощи), сахар, алкоголь.

Вроде бы ничего нового. Диета Аткинса рекомендует примерно то же самое – много белка и избегать сахаров, хотя там допускается намного больше калорий в день. Тем не менее, диета имеет и некоторые другие, более интересные ограничения. Нет перекусов до обеда.

И никаких игр с размерами порций в «фунтах и дюймах». Но доктор предупреждает, что малейшая ошибка может иметь катастрофические результаты.

Как работает диета ХГЧ?

Первая возникающая мысль – ну конечно, любой похудеет, если урезать рацион до 500 калорий. И насколько же несчастным придется себя при этом чувствовать? По словам доктора Симеонса при ХГЧ-лечении голод не будет ощущаться вовсе, в целом будет подъем настроения. ХГЧ-гормон запускает потребление жировых запасов, хранящихся, в том числе и в глубоких резервах, так называемых «проблемных зонах».

Как правило, к хардкорным диетам люди прибегают, когда нужно быстро сбросить вес, и мало кто понимает, что уходит не жировая ткань, а мышечная масса. Похудевшие в конце диеты и удовлетворенные результатом, они не понимают, что многое из потерянного – это здоровая мышечная масса. Это означает, что в конечном итоге страдает обмен веществ – он существенно замедляется и многие возвращаются снова к прежнему весу, в котором процент мышечной массы теперь уже намного меньше.

Сторонники ХГЧ-схемы уверяют, что гормональные инъекции поддерживают мышечную массу, повышается уровень тестостерона, создающего анаболитическое состояние, помогающее строить мышечную массу, которое противодействует катаболическому, уменьшающему мышцы.

В идеале, курс ХГЧ должен длиться около 26 дней, хотя в некоторых случаях это может продолжаться до 43 дней. Во время курса организм перестраивается и начинает отличать истинный голод от ложного, приучается есть меньше и легко обходится без лишних порций пищи. После окончания курса можно возвращаться к прежним пищевым привычкам, но лучше первое время следить за тем, что и сколько съедено.

Хорошо. Пока все это звучит довольно заманчиво и многообещающе. Итак, почему же была полемика? На самом ли деле это работает?

Что же такое ХГЧ на самом деле? Этот гормон не имеет ничего общего с потерей веса, он был одобрен для лечения женского и мужского бесплодия.

  • У женщин с низким уровнем гормона ХГЧ его дополнительные порции могут стимулировать овуляцию.
  • У мужчин с низким уровнем тестостерона ХГЧ-лечение может увеличить сперматогенез.
По заявлениями FDA (Управление по санитарному надзору за качеством пищевых продуктов и медикаментов) использование ХГЧ для потери веса в настоящее время считается гомеопатическим и полностью неэффективными. Управление считает его предложение для целей потери веса фальсификацией.

Исследования диеты доктора Симеонса ХГЧ

Доктор Симеонс был убежден, что его процесс лечения работает. К сожалению, он был единственным, описавшим и подтвердившим схему воздействия. Ни одно другое клиническое испытание никогда не подтвердило его выводы.

Исследования проводились несколько раз с 1960 года, но ни одно из них не упоминается в книгах и статьях, написанных сторонниками ХГЧ-схемы. И возможно не последнюю роль тут играет стоимость, которую они получают за курс диеты – $495 в среднем за 26-дневный курс. Конечно, продавцы змеиного яда вряд ли станут рассказывать о его побочных эффектах.

Вот результаты исследования 1963 года. Двадцать женщин с тяжелой формой ожирения были разделены на две группы, одна получала ежедневно инъекции ХГЧ, другая плацебо в виде физиологического раствора. Женщины были ограничены двумя приемами пищи в день на 550 калорий общего рациона. Им было разрешено неограниченное потребление воды, чая или кофе без сахара. Через 45 дней женщины показали равномерную среднюю потерю веса в 20 фунтов. Не было никакой разницы между потерей веса женщин, получавших ХГЧ, и теми, кому ХГЧ не досталось. Исследование подтвердило вывод, что диета, а не действие хорионического гонадотропина, является важным фактором программы доктора Simeons.

Затем в 1976 году была еще одна попытка протестировать гипотезу эффективности ХГЧ-схемы. В двойном случайном исследовании на протяжении 32 дней участвовала 51 женщина в возрасте от 18 до 60 лет. Каждая пациентка опять-таки получила ограниченную диету и взвешивалась ежедневно. Двадцать пять женщин получали ХГЧ, в то время как 26 – плацебо. В результате не было статистически значимой разницы в обеих группах в потерянном весе, процентном соотношении потери веса, изменениях в окружности бедер и талии.

С тех пор FDA называет лечение ХГЧ для потери веса незаконным. Препарат для этих целей не может предлагаться и тот, кто это делает, нарушает закон. Питер Коэн, доцент Гарвардской медицинской школы, про эту схему говорит, что это безрассудно, безответственно и полностью иррационально. Можно ли похудеть на такой схеме? Конечно, но это в основном из-за низкого поступления калорий.

Опасности ХГЧ-схемы

Главная опасность не ХГЧ-гормон. Как уже упоминалось, он утвержден для лечения бесплодия. А вот список его побочных эффектов заставляет настораживаться: головные боли, судороги, запоры, депрессия, у мужчины увеличение груди, инфекции, и тромбы. Хотя эти осложнения встречаются относительно редко. Реальная же опасность заключается в диете. Врачи и эксперты предупреждают о вреде ХГЧ-схемы из-за рациона. Все как один утверждают, что такое питание недопустимо.

По утверждению Katherine Zeratsky, диетолога из клиники Майо, употребление такого малого количества калорий заставляет организм голодать. А он, в свою очередь, притормаживает обмен веществ, чтобы сохранить энергию, поэтому кроме вреда от этих усилий больше нет никакого результата в долгосрочной перспективе.

Для поддержания метаболизма нужно 1800-2000 калорий в день. И ограничение этой цифры до 500 в день, когда это должно быть размером одного нормального приема пищи, приведет к тому, что организм начнет высасывать протеин отовсюду, вплоть до сердечной мышцы, что может, по утверждениям доктора David L. Katz, руководящего исследованиями в Йельском Гриффин-Центре в Коннектикуте, привести к желудочковой тахикардии и внезапной остановке сердца. А в своем блоге о здоровье доктор утверждает, что ХГЧ-схема полностью надумана и ее целью является только отъем денег.

Много доказательств против ХГЧ-схемы. Каждый, конечно, может оставаться при своем мнении, но если плацебо также эффективно, как и фактическое лечение, то, скорее всего это трата денег и поиск фиктивных результатов.

Стоит добавить, что структурированное питание, когда оно должным образом продумано, суперэффективно в потере веса. Особенно в сочетании с регулярными физическими упражнениями. Именно это ведет к здоровому результату, а не сомнительные гормональные процедуры.

What is The HCG Diet, and Does it Work?

The HCG diet has been popular for many years.

It's an extreme diet, claimed to cause fast weight loss of up to 1-2 pounds per day.

What's more, you're not supposed to feel hungry in the process.

However, the FDA has called it dangerous, illegal and fraudulent.

This article takes an objective look at the science behind the HCG diet.

HCG, or human chorionic gonadotropin, is a hormone present at high levels in early pregnancy.

In fact, this hormone is used as a marker in home pregnancy tests (1).

HCG has also been used to treat fertility issues in both men and women (2).

However, elevated blood levels of HCG may also be a symptom of several types of cancer, including placental, ovarian and testicular cancer (3).

A British doctor named Albert Simeons first proposed HCG as a weight loss tool in 1954.

His diet consisted of two main components:

  • An ultra low-calorie diet of around 500 calories per day.
  • The HCG hormone administered via injections.

Today, HCG products are sold in various forms, including oral drops, pellets and sprays. They are also available through countless websites and some retail stores.

However, there are no scientific studies available to back up these claims (7, 11).

If you're on a low-calorie diet, there are much better ways to prevent muscle loss and metabolic slowdown than taking HCG.

Weight lifting is the most effective strategy. Also, eating plenty of high-protein foods and taking an occasional break from your diet can boost metabolism (12, 13, 14).

Bottom Line: Some people claim that the HCG diet helps prevent muscle loss and metabolic slowdown when severely restricting calories. However, there are currently no studies to support this.

The HCG diet is a very low-fat, very low-calorie diet.

It is generally divided into three phases:

  1. Loading phase: Start taking HCG and eat plenty of high-fat, high-calorie foods for 2 days.
  2. Weight loss phase: Continue taking HCG and eat only 500 calories per day for 3 to 6 weeks.
  3. Maintenance phase: Stop taking HCG. Gradually increase food intake but avoid sugar and starch for 3 weeks.

For people who have less weight to lose, 3 weeks is recommended for the weight loss phase. Those who need to lose a lot of weight may be advised to follow the diet for 6 weeks and even repeat the cycle (all phases) several times.

As for the weight loss phase, you're only allowed to eat two meals per day, usually lunch and dinner.

HCG meal plans generally suggest that each meal should contain one portion of lean protein, a vegetable, a piece of bread and a fruit.

You may also get a list of "approved" foods to select from in specific amounts.

Butter, oils and sugar should be avoided, but you're encouraged to drink lots of water. Mineral water, coffee and tea are allowed as well. Bottom Line: The HCG diet is usually divided into three phases. During the weight loss phase, you take HCG while eating only 500 calories per day.

Most of the HCG products on the market today are actually "homeopathic."

What this really means, is that there is literally no HCG in them.

Real HCG, in the form of injections, is approved as a fertility drug. It is only available through a doctor's prescription.

Only these injections are able to raise blood levels of the hormone, not these "homeopathic" products sold online.

Bottom Line: Most of the HCG products available online are "homeopathic," meaning they don't actually contain any real HCG.

The Price and Quality of hCG Diet

The hormone is no longer available for prescription use, and any brands selling it are distributing an illegal product not recognized by the FDA.

It’s unknown what the price is as sales of it are meant only for women with fertility issues. The FDA has since sent at least 6 warning letters to companies who sell and market this hormone for weight loss. There are some companies that use the same name of hCG, but instead offer a mix of amino acids which are legal but not same. Phase 2 of the diet starts on the third day. You should wake up feeling like you couldn't take another bit of food even if you wanted to! You now take your HCG at the time you selected and reference your food list for the amount of time you have chosen to do the diet for. People who need to lose 30 lbs or more may choose to do the diet for the full 40 days. Because most people lose 1- 1.5 pounds a day you want to make sure that you choose a realistic time frame for your diet. Someone who needs to lose 10-15 pounds does not need to do a 40-day protocol.

Phase 2 consists of a 500-calorie diet drinking lots of water along the way.

Sauces such as mustard, hot sauce, teriyaki, and others that mainly consist of sodium are safe choices. Make sure to read labels! If it has less then 2 grams of sugar its probably safe to use a little for taste, but don’t drown your food in it. Also when your body’s intake of sodium reaches high levels your body reacts by retaining water which could make a difference on the scale, so keep that on mind and be sure not to over season!
